The scope of the development was for the construction of a total of 168 apartments housed within three separate apartment blocks each consisting of an integral ground floor car park with a further 3 stories of accommodation constructed above.

Stonehouse Consultants were commissioned by our client to undertake a cost comparison for constructing the frame, floor slab and internal party walls of the buildings above 1st floor podium slab in either;

1.    RC concrete frame & slab, metsec walls forming the inner skin of the external cavity wall and jumbo stud internal party walls

2.    Pcc floor slabs, blockwork walls forming the inner skin of the external cavity and internal party walls

Once outline specifications were agreed, following substantial dialogue with both the project architect and engineer, quantities and costs were established and incorporated into a detailed cost analysis for the 2 options being considered. The report recommended to the Regional Board of Directors that option 2 be adopted providing a potential development cost saving of over £400,000.
