Housebuilding Analysts have urged housebuilders to cash in on the Homes & Communities Agency's £14 billion plans before public spending is cut. Regeneration and growth activities should happen between April 2009 - March 2011, the plan is to fund half of the 260,000 new homes in the next two years. Housebuilders should make the most of the funding and hope private investment returns by 2011 when the current HCA budget ends. The plan is to spend £1.7 billion on bringing council stock up to date, £1bn in growth and infrastructure including Thames Gateway Project. Reading Borough Council has approved a £400 million development next to Reading Station. Sackville Developments - led by Sir John Madejski plans a 1.72 m sq ft mixed use project for Station Hill. It will include offices, residential buildings, retails - cafes, restaurants and food outlets, the development also includes a central public plaza. Work could begin in 2011 the first phased completed in 2014.
