Client: Private Client

Contract Value: £9,500,000.00

Stonehouse Consultants were commissioned by the Main Contractor to provide the quantity surveying services on the construction of this private semi-subterranean home. The unique design concept was for the house to be of a sunken reinforced insitu concrete structure with a green roof, indoor swimming pool within the main foyer of the house, moving floors covering the pool providing a seamless floor finish when not in use and 50 x 4m purpose designed glass walls with automated glass doors.

As with a construction of this budget and prestigious design the internal finishes were of the highest quality with imported French limestone wall & floor finishes, vaulted ceilings, French oak joinery bespoke kitchen & utility units.

The construction of the project involved the excavation of over 1000 tons of chalk in order to partially submerge the house into the surrounding countryside, the ballast being sympathetically spread over the estate in order to minimise any change in terrain.

This unique and exacting project was completed on time and to budget.
